Preez
Privacy Policy
What the Preez attendance app collects, why, and who can see it.
1. Who we are
Preez is an attendance app for businesses with employees across one or more locations. It is operated by ILA Platforms (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Preez Android app (app.preez), the Preez service behind it, and this website.
Preez is used through an organization — usually your employer. The organization decides whether attendance needs a location check and a selfie, which branches and shifts you are assigned to, and which of its managers can see your attendance. We operate the service on the organization's behalf. If you have questions about how your employer uses attendance records, you can also ask them directly.
2. Information you or your employer provide
- Phone number — identifies your account and lets you sign in. An employer adds an employee by entering their name and phone number. On Android, the app may offer your number through Google's phone number hint; you choose whether to use it.
- Name, and optionally a profile photo.
- Password — stored only as a one-way hash. Nobody, including us, can read it.
- Work details set by your employer: organization, role, employee code, assigned branches and shifts, holidays and weekly offs.
- Requests you make: leave requests and attendance correction requests, including the reasons you give.
3. Attendance information
- Each check-in and check-out: the branch, the time recorded by our server, the time on your phone when you captured it, and the result (accepted, needs review, or rejected, with the reason).
- Daily attendance status calculated from those events, such as present, late, half-day, absent, leave or incomplete, and hours worked.
- Changes made later — corrections, manager-entered attendance, approvals and voided entries — with who made them and why. Voiding never deletes the original record.
4. Location
Preez asks for location permission while the app is in use. It reads your location only when you start a check-in or check-out, to confirm you are at your assigned workplace.
- Your precise coordinates and their accuracy are sent to our server with the attendance event and stored with it.
- The distance from your branch is calculated on your phone and again on our server. The server's result is the one that counts.
- The same coordinates are written into the attendance photo's metadata (EXIF), along with the time and branch name.
- Location may also be used to flag a check-in for review — for example two branches far apart within a few minutes.
Preez does not collect background location. The app does not request background location permission and does not track where you go during the workday.
5. Camera and attendance selfies
If your organization requires it, the app uses the camera to take a live photo when you check in or out. Photos cannot be picked from your gallery — the app has no access to your photos or files.
- The photo is uploaded to private storage and attached to that attendance record.
- It is evidence for a person to look at. Preez does not perform face recognition or create biometric templates.
- Your organization's owners, admins and the managers of your branch can view it.
6. Device and app information
- Installation identifier — a random ID the app creates when first installed. It is not a hardware ID. It is sent with each attendance event so a check-in from an unfamiliar installation can be flagged for review.
- Network information such as IP address, which our servers and network provider receive with every request and may keep briefly in logs for security and troubleshooting.
- App update checks — the app contacts our update server to receive signed updates, sending its version and platform.
Preez can store your device platform, app version, device model and a notification token if the app sends them. The current app does not send a notification token, and we do not send push notifications yet. We will update this policy before that changes.
7. What Preez does not collect
- Background location or location history between check-ins
- Contacts, microphone audio, or files and photos from your device
- Advertising identifiers
- Analytics or crash-reporting data from third-party SDKs — the app includes none
8. How we use information
- To create and secure your account and sign you in
- To record attendance and verify presence at the workplace
- To flag unusual check-ins for review and prevent misuse
- To calculate attendance status and produce reports and exports for your organization
- To handle leave and correction requests
- To operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve Preez, and to answer support requests
- To meet legal obligations
We do not sell personal data and do not use it for advertising.
9. Who can see your information
- You — your own profile and attendance history in the app.
- Your organization — owners and admins see attendance across the organization; managers see only the branches they have been given. They can see your location, selfies, times and review flags for attendance records, and can export attendance reports.
- Service providers who help us run Preez — for example Cloudflare, which carries traffic to our servers. They process data only to provide their service to us.
- Authorities, where we are required to by law or to protect the rights, safety or security of users, the public or Preez.
- A successor, if Preez or ILA Platforms is reorganized, merged or sold, subject to this policy.
10. Security
Data travels over HTTPS. Selfies are kept in private storage and are opened only through links that expire after about fifteen minutes. Every request is checked against the organization and role of the signed-in user, and attendance changes are recorded in an audit log. Passwords are hashed. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that data will never be accessed without authorization.
11. How long we keep data
- Attendance records are kept while your organization uses Preez, because organizations rely on them for wages, disputes and legal records.
- Selfies are kept with the attendance record. Organizations can choose a retention period for selfies; automatic deletion after that period is not yet in place, so until it is, selfies are kept until deleted on request.
- Account data is kept while your account exists. See section 13 for deletion.
- Server logs are kept for a limited time for security and troubleshooting.
We may keep some information longer where the law requires it, or to resolve disputes, prevent fraud or enforce our terms.
12. Your choices and rights
- See your data — your attendance history and profile are in the app. The app's Privacy screen shows what your organization collects.
- Correct it — update your name in the app; request an attendance correction in the app; ask your organization to fix work details.
- Permissions — you can turn off location or camera access in your phone's settings at any time. If your organization requires them, you will not be able to check in through the app until they are turned back on.
- Delete your account — see section 13.
- Ask or complain — email [email protected]. You may also have the right to complain to a data protection authority.
13. Deleting your account
You can ask us to delete your Preez account and associated personal data at any time, without reinstalling the app. See Delete your Preez account for how it works and what an organization may need to keep.
14. Children
Preez is a workplace tool for working adults. It is not intended for anyone under 18, and organizations should not add them as users.
15. This website
This website does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. Our servers and network provider receive standard request information, such as IP address and browser type, to deliver pages and keep the site secure.
16. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when Preez changes how it handles data, and change the date at the top. For significant changes we will also tell users in the app or through their organization.
